Our Defense Systems Division (DSD), located in Manchester, New Hampshire, serves the defense/military and homeland security markets with engineering and systems integration soutions. Our customers include the various agencies comprising the Department of Defense, while our Defense System Division also serves prime defense contractors in providing integrated subassemblies and systems. Our 15,000 square-foot DSD facility houses administrative and engineering offices, laboratories, and production areas, including a Class 10,000 clean room, easily convertible to Class 1,000.

The following representative examples of products our Defense System Division has developed for our customers serves to demonstrate their capabilities.

Multi-Band Optical Sensor System — The system developed under SBIR funding had been awarded a Phase III award for production. It functions with a common aperture and couples SWIR, MWIR, LWIR and visible cameras via a 4X three mirror afocal anastigmat.

5X Magnification Zoom Projector for Flight Simulators — The projector interfaces with a conventional off-the-shelf projector to achieve exceptional image quality of images projected onto the interior of a dome simulator. It accomplishes a continuous zoom from 2º to 10º using three moving groups via a closed-loop system which employs encoders and computer control to accurately position the zoom groups.

Image Intensified Rifle Scope Attachment — This optical assembly, which includes an image intensifier, mounts in front of a standard rifle scope on the rail.

Catadioptric Long Wave Infrared Imager — This large aperture Cassegrain re-imager is military test equipment. With an effective focal length of 551 mm, it operates at f/2.1 over the 8-12 micron spectrum.

MEMS Micro-Mirror Laser Scanner/Receiver — The assembly is an integrated steering array integrating a laser transmitter and receiver.

Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) Lens Solutions — OPTICS 1 has strong capabilities for developing custom SWIR lens solutions for the 1-2 micron range. We encourage you to contact us.
