OPTICS 1 Commercial Systems Division (CSD), located in Westlake
Village California, has fielded the premier optics design, systems
integration and manufacturing services organization in the industry.
Armed with expertise gained from implementing hundreds of the most
advanced optical system designs, OPTICS 1 Engineering and Manufacturing
Services can extend your capabilities by applying the broadest set
of technology platforms and methodologies available. Through our
collaborative engineering approach, seasoned OPTICS 1 designers
become your business partners, offering your design team:
1. Proven optics methodologies tailored to your design environment
2. Broad optical system and optics design expertise
3. Enabling optics IP to accelerate design and product development
We provide expertise in optics technologies that help you address
cutting edge commerical systems integration needs and optical system
design in the 21st century. Many companies want to mitigate the
risks involved in creating the most advanced designs, such as medical
electro-optics, consumer electronics, metrology and high end industrial
designs. OPTICS 1 can support the entire development and implementation
of these projects through our proven optics design approach. Expert
designers at OPTICS 1 have achieved a remarkable reputation for
implementing everything from simple lenslets to high-end optics
system designs. These designers work closely with you to optimize
your designs, as well as delivering performance levels that won't
compromise your design goals.
With a passion for invention, OPTICS 1 applies innovations in optics
that work, finding a better way to meet our customers' goals. Working
with our partners, our engineering team is developing and demonstrating
optics and electro-optical technologies that enable new products
and new markets, seemingly every day.
The following representative examples of products and commercial
systems integration sucesses that our Commercial System Division
has developed for our customers serve to demonstrate our capabilities:
SOLUS 1000™ . This standard
product offering from OPTICS 1 is an optical metrology system designed
to rapidly assess the performance of a broad range of lenses, from
standard spherical glass lenses to complex molded glass aspheres.
The system offers an accurate, automated solution to the challenges
of measuring lenses that are integral to digital cameras, mobile
phones and pick up lens in DVD/CD appliances. It is a highly reliable
automated testing platform that is designed to significantly reduce
production costs while being flexible enough to provide detailed
test parameters in R&D mode.
CytoViva™ is an advanced
optical microscopy system with a novel fluorescence imaging capability
enabling 100nm resolution - optically. The annular optical adapter
was developed for Aetos Technologies by OPTICS 1 and was a 2006
recipient of the prestigious R&D 100 award.
HOT Box. The Holographic Optical
Trapping "HOT Box" developed for Arryx (a division of
Haemonetics) by OPTICS 1 is at the heart of an innovative instrument
capable of manipulating small objects at the cellular level. It
uses focused light to form optical traps that function like microscopic
"tractor beams" to grab small objects. These optical traps
(also known as laser tweezers) can hold, move, rotate, join, separate,
stretch, and otherwise manipulate hundreds of microscopic and nanoscopic
objects, ranging from the size of a human cell down to less than
1/1000th the diameter of a human hair.
Fluorescent detector unit developed
and built for NASA-Ames for a space application - micro gravity
experiment. The single unit comprised an illumination leg and a
separate detector leg. The bacterial sample is contained in a well
plate that is illuminated by a high energy LED and the fluorescent
signal detected using a high sensitivity detector. 12units make
a complete 'pod' and the complete system is designed
to perform after space launch i.e. high shock environment (1400g's!).
Macular Degeneration Treatment Instrument.
This instrument was developed by OPTICS 1 to enable the treatment
of macular degeneration in the eye. The system comprised of a targeting
laser and a treatment laser that delivered a variable focused spot
to the retina. The system is currently awaiting FDA approval.
CoLOSSIS (Confined Large Optical Scintillation
Screen Imaging System ) was developed for Lawrence Livermore
Laboratories. A very large system designed to provide 3D X-Ray imaging
of objects of interest.
