OPTICS
1 designs and builds optical systems and sub-assemblies, from deep
ultraviolet through far-infared, for medical, industrial, commercial,
military and aerospace applications. Our Defense Systems Group,
located in Manchester, NH, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer
to join the team!
General Job Description:
This position involves the design and development of complex
mechanical and Opto-mechanical imaging and non-imaging electro-optical
systems for visible, near Infrared, thermal, and UV. As a Mechanical
Engineer, responsibilities will include the design of precision
lens mounts, optical housings, and mechanical assemblies for electronics,
optics, and drive mechanisms. In addition this position will include
the mechanical design of hardware for harsh environments such as
shipboard, aircraft and vehicles as well as hardware that requires
lightweight and small size such as head mounted and weapon mounted
applications.
Specific Job Requirements:
- BS degree in mechanical Engineering or equivalent with a minimum
of 5 years experience in optical packaging design for harsh environments
where weight and size are significant design drivers.
- Knowledge of design with plastics and engineering polymers
is a plus.
- Fluent with Solidworks or equivalent Computer Aided Design
tool a must
- Experience in designing products for harsh military and commercial
environments
- Experience in importing optical design files into the mechanical
model.
- Experience in generating features on optical lens drawing s
for ease of assembly and test.
- Practical hands on experience with hardware development including
rapid prototyping from solid models, mechanical assembly and mechanical
environmental testing are required.
Other Requirements:
- Strong organizational, presentation and customer relationship
skills
- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to be a team player
- Knowledge of thermal and structural analysis and design a plus
- Knowledge of precision drive mechanisms is a plus.
- Ability to effectively deliver a product within schedule and
budget
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook,
Power Point
