OPTICS 1 designs and builds
optical systems and sub-assemblies, from deep ultraviolet through
far-infrared, for medical, industrial, commercial, military and
aerospace applications. Our Defense Systems Group, located in Manchester,
NH, is looking for an Optical Engineering Manager to join the team!
General Job Description:
You will be leading a team of Optical Engineers in a matrix-based
organization, responsible for resource allocation, technical oversight,
and professional development of the optical engineering team. You
will be directly involved in the design and development of opto-mechanical
and electro-optical systems spanning the visible to infrared spectrum,
and ranging from prototypes to full production articles.
Occasional travel is required.
Specific Job Requirements:
- BS/MS degree in optics or equivalent with a minimum of 10 years
experience
- Fluent with Zemax, CODE V, or similar lens design software
- Experience in leadership and management of an optical engineering
team (5 years min).
- Ability to plan resources and provide technical oversight so
to cover multiple projects effectively
- Experience in leading and managing engineering projects
- Capability of effectively delivering a product within spec,
schedule and budget
- Ability to conceptualize and define optical ‘architectures’
- Working knowledge with optical assembly & testing techniques
- Interface with customers and suppliers in technical areas relating
to the project
Other Requirements:
- Strong organizational, presentation and customer relationship
skills
- Solid communication skills relevant to the preparation of technical
reports and customer briefings
- Demonstrated leadership skills while having the ability to
be a team player.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook,
Power Point, Project
