Optics 1 Donates $17,500 to Non-Profit Organizations

Safran Optics 1 has a mission to support local non-profit organizations which seek to improve the lives of veterans and their families.

The Travis Mills Foundation formed to benefit and assist post 9/11 veterans who have been injured in active duty or as a result of their service to our nation. The veteran and their families receive an all-inclusive, all-expenses paid, barrier-free vacation to Maine where they participate in adaptive activities, bond with other veteran families, and enjoy much-needed rest and relaxation in Maine’s great outdoors.

Last week, Optics 1 President & CEO, Bob Lachance, USMC, Ret., Business Development Manager, Tim Brauch, USAF, Ret., and Facility Manager, Travis Storm, headed to Maine to present their $7,500 donation and met with Vice President of Programming, Kelly Roseberry and her incredible team. While at the Foundation, Lachance, Brauch and Storm received a tour of the state-of-the art retreat in Rome, Maine, including the new indoor pool facility, gym, the 20-acre retreat, yoga room and massage room, all amidst the scenery of the Kennebunk and Moose River Valleys.

House in the Woods is a non-profit organization that offers outdoor programs to bring together small groups of active military, veterans, and their family members to relax, share, bond, and deal with the stress, loss, grief, and other emotions which can haunt the grieving soul.

Founded by Paul and Dee House after their son, Sgt. Joel A. House, was killed by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq, House in the Woods offers canoeing, kayaking, hiking, hunting, fishing, nature tours, campfires, swimming, wildlife identification and spotting, and other natural Eastern Maine resource “treasures” to enjoy. As participants face the outdoor challenges presented by Mother Nature herself, they will have the opportunity to share laughter, memories, sorrow, service, and pride, among many other common bonds.

Optics 1 was proud to present House in the Woods a $10,000 donation to help continue thier great work.
